Chop chop

As I create my art, I come across things that HAVE to be done before I go any further....then I get distracted and then I've forgotten what it is I'm supposed to be doing!! I'm not alone, I'm sure!
This time I was stopped by the need to make good quality wood plaques for my fuzzy animal heads to be mounted on. I lost a number of mature trees in the last few years...due to this crazy weather we've started seeing here in Eastern Ontario...those winds! I'm not complaining though...we have it good as far as weather and nature is concerned....no flooding, no land slides, no hurricanes...but we have been getting tornados...or tail ends of them...so down came some beautiful trees....my triple birch was flattened by the 100 year old maple and.....well....there I go again.....getting distracted!! ANYWAY.....I needed to slice up some plaques......

I rented a honkin' big 15" Chop Saw from 1000 Islands Rentals....thanks guys!

Alpaca Mania

It's been a hectic wonderful summer for me! The New York Gift show (NY Now) was a great success and I've been flooded with orders. My plan to make this my full time job is scary and SO liberating!!
One of my potential customers in NY asked me to create a Christmas ornament out of Alpaca fibre...

This little guy was created using Sheeps wool and curly locks...so of course I need some ALPACA fibre to create Alpaca critters! And out of the blue, Louise from Blue Mountain Alpacas contacted me and now I have luscious multi coloured alpaca fibre. I especially like Sirius Black...(LOVE your choice of names, Louise and Bruce!) his fibre is so black...but in a certain light it's got a maroon tinge to it. Utterly gorgeous!
